Description:
The Bank of Jamaica is undertaking the implementation of a national Electronic Know Your Customer (eKYC) or Customer Due Diligence (CDD) Utility to modernize customer onboarding, strengthen digital identity verification, reduce onboarding friction, and enhance competition across Jamaica's financial sector.
The eKYC or CDD Utility is envisioned as a foundational component of Jamaica's emerging digital financial infrastructure, providing secure, consent-based access to trusted identity information from authorized Data Source Providers (DSPs). The solution will support more efficient customer due diligence processes, improve customer experience, reduce operational costs, and facilitate greater financial inclusion.
The proposed eKYC or CDD solution envisions a centralized, secure and interoperable digital gateway that enables seamless identity verification and customer onboarding for financial service providers in Jamaica. Designed as foundational infrastructure, the solution will allow the electronic fulfillment of KYC requirements through a single access point—reducing duplication, improving efficiency and enhancing the customer experience.
